Canadian Kelp Research Ltd. (previously Canadian Kelp Resources) is a British Columbia company, operating out of the Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre. We produce kelp seed for kelp farming and environmental remediation. Custom kelp seed is available on various substrates for various kelp species, and we can bank your seed stock for future use.
We also advise on aspects of kelp farming including species selection, farm construction, production estimates, and permitting. Our custom kelp workshops emphasise basic aspects of kelp biology essential to successful farming and conservation practices.
We are happy to work with projects from small, citizen-led conservation initiatives to larger scale farm or restoration operations. BC has the world’s largest kelp flora (14 genera) and a coastline amenable to varied operations. We invite you to explore these opportunities with us!
